ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Bring up supplies
  2. Install new equipment
  3. Repair existing equipment
  4. Put straps back in legs
  5. Replace hammers in hammer mills
  6. Install sheaves and belts
  7. Replacing chains and sprockets
  8. Repairing hoses for all departments
  9. Lubricating the assigned plant equipment
  10. Plumbing repairs
  11. Routine tractor repairs
  12. Couplings and grid repairs
  13. Concrete and masonry work
  14. Window and screen repairs
  15. Fabricating all types of sheet metal and iron work
  16. Installing bearings on equipment
  17. Handling call in work after regular hours
  18. Repairing and changing of motors.
  19. Checking of the air compressors and changing of filters (air and oil)
  20. Repairing and changing of starters and their components
  21. Testing and diagnosing electrical problems
  22. Trouble shooting of electrical equipment
  23. Replacing of couplings between motors and other equipment

 

Good house keeping practices will be followed. This will include:

  1. The use of magnets to pick up metal shavings.
  2. The practice of wiping down areas that are dirty or oily with in an appropriate manner will be used.
  3. All parts and pieces will be accounted for at the end of a job or shift. If documentation is required it will be complete.

 

DIMENSIONS

Operates primarily on the 1st shift but as job requires may be asked to work other hours as the business requirements may dictate.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

All applicants for Maintenance Mechanic position should possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Basic fabrication, electrical and mechanical skills required. **ALL APPLICANTS MUST PASS A SKILLS TEST.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to speak fluent English as primary language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret memo, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write in English and complete reports.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables at any given time.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

On-going training to enhance performance in position as required.

  1. Must be able to work in an environment which has extremes in temperature.
  2. Be able to climb ladders, and work in high places.
  3. Be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  4. Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  5. Finger and hand dexterity to type at a keyboard, and to use basic hand tools occasionally.
  6. Occasionally required to lift and or move items up to 100 lbs. in weight.
  7. Vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  2. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  3. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
  4. The employee will be exposed to extremes in hot and cold.
  5. The work environment is noisy, frequently in excess of 90 decibels.

 

FOOD SAFETY / SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

The Company is committed to producing and delivering defect-free products.  To ensure this, all employees are required to be trained on and adhere to the Good Manufacturing Policies set forth by the Company as they pertain to personnel practices, equipment, and facilities.  It is also vital that all employees be aware of the work environment and when possible, prevent accidental or intentional adulteration of products produced at this facility.  As a result any employee has a right to put product on hold if they have a concern.  At the plant level, only the Quality Assurance Manager and General Manager have the authority to release product on hold.
