What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Provider position at Bay Presbyterian Church?
Department: Children’s Ministry
Reports to: Weekday/Weekend Childcare Coordinator
FLSA Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Date: June 2026
Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide safe, quality childcare for our weekday early childhood ministries. This is a flexible position working either Monday and/or Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:45AM during the program year which typically runs September through May.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing childcare environment for infants, toddlers and preschool age children
- Provide an environment where children can see, hear and feel Christ’s love in action
- Carry out age-appropriate lessons that have been prepared in advance
- Attend meetings and trainings when scheduled by your supervisor
- Follow teaching, discipline, and childcare guidelines set by Bay Presbyterian Church
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Able to work in a team environment with a willingness to step in where needed
- The ability to be flexible in an ever-changing environment and to adapt to last minute changes
- Patience
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Prior childcare experience helpful
- A heart for children’s ministry and a willingness to serve the Lord through childcare ministry
- Satisfactory background check required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Able to sit on the floor and stand up from the floor
- Able to speak and read in English
