What are the responsibilities and job description for the COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE position at Bay Path RVTHS?

REPORTS TO: Vocational Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cosmetology Instructional Aide will assist licensed vocational instructors in the shop area. Knowledge of the competencies and skills required of students in Cosmetology is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work with all students by assisting the approved vocational technical instructor in delivering quality training to prepare the students to meet the demands of working in a Cosmetology Salon.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in the implementation of a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
- Assists in delivering effective instruction with a strong focus on the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Cosmetology Frameworks and performance standards to students of varying abilities and skill levels.
- Responsible for effective techniques of classroom management/discipline and behavior reinforcement.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent-Director and/or their designee.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the Cosmetology field required.
- Experience working with students in a high school setting is preferred.
- Advanced educational preparation in the area of Cosmetology and/or teaching preferred.
- Must possess Cosmetology License and Cosmetology Instructor’s license from Board of Reg. in CS or be able to obtain such a license within 6 months. Massachusetts Chapter 74 License in Cosmetology preferred.
- SEI Endorsement preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This is a 10 month position.
- This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Bay Path Teachers Association (Paraprofessionals) and the SWCRVSDC.
SALARY:
- Hourly Rate $20.52 - $27.08 (appropriate step on the pay scale pursuant to the BPTA Paraprofessionals CBA.
