Job Summary
The multi craft helper assists and supports journeyman such as pipefitter, boilermaker, ironworker, welders, etc. with performing maintenance and installation related to various types of towers, heat exchangers, heaters, and plate piping.

The multi craft helper assists and supports journeyman such as pipefitter, boilermaker, ironworker, welders, etc. with performing maintenance and installation related to various types of towers, heat exchangers, heaters, and plate piping.
Essential Functions
- Participate in daily safety meetings, JSA’s and audits
- Cooperate with superintendents, foreman, supervisors in the shop, and coworkers
- Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly condition and cooperates with other departments in housekeeping endeavors
- Relay appropriate information to foreman
- Carries tools and equipment to job site
- Measure, reads blueprints, must be able to use square, measuring tape, and ruler
- Cuts materials to required dimensions
- Cleans up work area when job is completed and returns materials and equipment to appropriate location
- Attaches slings or cables to objects requiring lifting
- Bolts or unbolts assemblies using hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and prying bars
- May install packing’s, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels
- Knowledge on how to cut, bevel, and grind
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 3 years’ experience as a helper
- Ability to pass an HMC written craft test
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
