JOB SUMMARY
The security guard is responsible for guarding, patrolling, or monitoring premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
Keep a log of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
Patrol industrial or commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Respond to emergencies to provide assistance
Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School High School Diploma or GED required
At least 1 year experience as a security guard
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of trucks and other equipment
Ability to understand computerized controls and electronics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
Ability to operate job related tools
Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and / or fingers
Work that includes moving and / or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
