Job Summary

We are hiring an experienced and reliable caregiver for a 24-hour shift position supporting an active adult male with autism in Berkeley.

This is not a passive caregiving role. The client is highly active in the community and requires staff who are physically capable, attentive, and able to follow direction closely.

Staff must be comfortable providing both daily support and consistent behavioral support in a structured environment

Schedule Details

This position consists of 24-hour shifts, which include:

• Active daytime support
• Overnight presence with sleep time provided in a staff bedroom

Staff must remain available during the overnight if needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily community activities (walking 3–5 miles per day)
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including hygiene, dressing, and meals
• Provide hands-on personal care, including bathing and toileting support
• Maintain a clean, organized living environment
• Follow structured routines and direction from the case manager
• Provide consistent behavioral support and redirection as needed
• Remain calm and attentive during moments of dysregulation
• Ensure safety, awareness, and engagement throughout the entire shift

Requirements (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

• Minimum 2 years of paid caregiving experience (required)
• Experience working with autism and/or non-verbal clients strongly preferred
• Must be comfortable supporting individuals with behavioral needs in community settings
• Must be physically able to stay active and walk daily
• Must be reliable and consistent with attendance
• Must be comfortable working 24-hour shifts
• Must be comfortable providing full personal care (including toileting and bathing)
• Must be able to follow direction and work within a structured environment
• Must be comfortable working closely with another staff member in a shared setting

Preferred Experience

• IHSS or supported living experience
• Behavioral support or ABA experience
• Experience with high-energy or community-based clients

Compensation $19.50 to $22.60

Pay: $19.50 - $22.60 per hour
