Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients, particularly those with developmental disabilities, autism, and mental illness. As a PCA, you will play a vital role in fostering independence and dignity while ensuring the safety and well-being of those you serve.
We are also looking for an awake overnight staff-person to offer support if needed in the overnight hours.
Duties
- Support clients in daily living activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication administration.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' mental well-being.
- Help clients engage in social activities and community involvement to promote socialization.
- Monitor and document changes in clients' health status and report any concerns to the appropriate parent or guardian.
- Help clients arrange transportation as needed.
- Ensure a safe environment by following health and safety protocols.
Skills
- Experience in home health or home community care is preferred.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities or other disabilities is highly valued.
- Familiarity with first aid practices and direct support techniques.
- Understanding of medication administration processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to provide compassionate care while respecting client privacy and dignity.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
- Must be reliable.
- Must be able to interact with clients in a positive and friendly way.
