Responsibilities for Admissions Nurse:
Conduct comprehensive initial assessments of incoming patients to determine the severity of illness and care needs.
Collect and document detailed medical histories, including current medications, allergies, and previous treatments.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop preliminary care and placement plans.
Serve as the first point of clinical contact, providing compassionate, patient-centered care during admission.
Communicate clearly with patients and families about the intake process, care expectations, and next steps.
Monitor for signs of medical distress during the intake process and escalate care when needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hospital admission policies, infection control protocols, and triage guidelines.
Qualifications for Intake Nurse:
Active RN license.
Valid BLS Certification (CPR)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
Experience in emergency, critical care, or admissions nursing is highly desirable.
Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
Proficient with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation.
