What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Animal Caretaker position at Bay Farm?
Bay Farm is seeking a substitute Animal Caretaker to care for our animals in the absence of the Lead Caretaker. The substitute may be called to cover the occasional planned absence or in the event of unplanned absences. There is no set schedule.
Bay Farm Montessori Academy is a private Montessori school located in Duxbury, MA that serves children ages 12 months through grade 6. We strive to provide education inspired by joy, purpose, and compassion.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00
- Twice-daily feeding and watering of chickens, goats, and alpacas, including weekends and holidays (roughly 21 hours per week);
- Ensuring general cleanliness and maintenance of animal pens and surrounding areas;
- Notifying BFMA contact person of any maintenance needs to ensure the health and safety of animals and humans who use the animal spaces;
- Ensuring that animals are secured in the evenings to prevent predator threats;
- Ensuring that animal conditions are sufficient against harms of inclement weather, including excessive heat and cold and other conditions;
- Coordinate and oversee the annual veterinarian visits with Black Pond Veterinarians;
- Coordinate the annual shearing of alpacas;
- Daily raking, manure cleanup, shaving replacement, and barn cleaning;
- Weekly delivery of manure bins for pickup by manure removal vendors;
