Summary

Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Position Type Staff Job Summary/Basic Function

The primary responsibility of this part-time, temporary position is to provide assistance to students in science courses at both Escanaba and Iron Mountain campuses. The position may include some virtual meetings with students, so candidates should be comfortable with videoconferencing software such as Zoom.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (or at least two years of completed college coursework) with significant focus in chemistry or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in tutoring, mentoring, group facilitation, or teaching
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in chemistry or related field
  • Preference given to applicants with a strong background in chemistry

Serve as resource for science students who are at risk and ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance

Attend science courses as requested by the faculty to ensure consistency of teaching methods and learning outcomes

Hold office hours/open support time in the HUB
