JOB TITLE: RESPITE CARE WORKER (PART-TIME)
RATE OF PAY: $11.11 per hour entry, progressing to
$12.78 per hour after 2 years (TS02)

This is a part-time position with limited benefits as provided for within the USW Part-time Labor Agreement, although union membership is voluntary.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Senior Services Manager, provides companionship, supervision and activities of daily living for the disabled when the primary care giver is not present.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Preparing a light meal.
3. Assists patient from wheelchair to toilet.
4. Entertaining patients-reading or writing letters, conversing on current topics, taking walks, if able.
5. Reporting any abnormal symptoms to the Nurse.
6. Ability to keep anxious or confused patients entertained and safe.
7. In times of a public health emergency, may be required to report for specialized assigned duties inside or outside of Bay County. Perform emergency response roles, as required.
8. Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
9. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED. A person whose life experiences have put them in contact with the elderly. Must be able to communicate and read to patients in their homes. Must be able to perform duties for patients as established by the Senior Services Manager for the care of patients in their homes. Must have a vehicle for transportation with a good driving record. Must be able to work different hours of the day total of up to 29 hours a week. Applicants may be required to take written and/or other examinations.
Physical: This position requires sitting, walking, bending and/or standing for significant periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: generally, 20-50 pounds of force up to one third of the time.
