What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Bay Colony Search?
The Engineering Manager is a hands-on engineering leader responsible for driving capital projects, process improvements, and facility initiatives that enable safe, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a builder’s mindset—someone who enjoys turning ideas into reality, solving complex problems, and building the processes, systems, and infrastructure needed to support a growing company.
As a growth-minded organization, we are looking for an engineer who is excited to make a meaningful impact today while helping shape the capabilities of tomorrow. This role offers significant opportunities for professional development, increased responsibility, and career growth as the company and its operations continue to expand.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and execute capital projects across the manufacturing facility, including Production, R&D, Quality, and Facilities, from concept and design through implementation and commissioning.
- Drive process improvements and modifications that increase manufacturing efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and scalability.
- Partner closely with Production and Maintenance to identify opportunities, troubleshoot technical challenges, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls issues on the production floor.
- Develop and implement facility improvements, coordinating internal resources and external trades including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other specialized contractors.
- Design and develop mechanical and process solutions, including equipment modifications, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and related engineering documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, R&D, Maintenance, and other teams to translate operational needs into effective engineering solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including work instructions, batch records, engineering drawings, equipment documentation, and other materials supporting Production and Quality.
- Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root causes, developing corrective actions, and implementing preventative solutions.
- Manage project priorities, timelines, budgets, and external resources to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company objectives and OKRs.
- Help build and improve engineering processes and infrastructure as the organization scales, bringing a proactive and continuous-improvement mindset to the role.
- Mentor and develop technical team members, sharing knowledge and helping build a strong culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies, tools, and approaches that can improve the company's manufacturing and engineering capabilities.
