What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Help Desk Technician position at Bay City Electric Works?
We are seeking an entry level IT Helpdesk Technician who is looking to grow their career in desktop, application, and cloud support to join our team. As a Helpdesk Tech at BCEW/PSW, you will be responsible for providing frontline technical support to our internal users, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and resolving IT-related problems. You will also assist in maintaining our systems, networks, and servers.
As part of BCEW/PSW’s shared services IT team, you will support multiple environments across offices, field teams, and remote users, gaining exposure to a wide range of systems, applications, and compliance requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to helpdesk tickets and provide technical support to internal users via email, phone, or in-person
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Configure and manage mobile devices using MDM solutions (Intune preferred)
- Provide technical support for Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
- Manage user accounts and permissions in Microsoft EntraID
- Support ERP and accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains/Priority ERP experience a plus)
- Ensure the security and integrity of our systems and data through patching, updates, and compliance checks
- Document all support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the ticketing system
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees, including account setup and equipment provisioning
- Contribute to IT knowledge base articles and SOPs for repeatable solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education
- Entry level to 2 years’ experience in IT support or helpdesk roles
- Basic knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)
- Basic desktop support skills (Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains (bonus)
- Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions such as Intune, AirWatch, or MobileIron (a plus)
- Basic knowledge of Azure-based cloud services
- Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role requires a majority of time sitting at a desk and approximately 5% of time moving around our offices. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
