Job Title: Activities Director – Assisted Living and Memory Care

Position Summary:

The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a vibrant and enriching program of activities for residents in both Assisted Living and Memory Care. This role is essential in promoting residents’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being while also supporting the community’s marketing efforts by showcasing engaging lifestyle experiences to prospective residents and families. The ideal candidate is professional, creative, and compassionate, with a consistently upbeat and positive attitude that motivates and inspires residents and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a monthly calendar of activities and events that meet the diverse interests and abilities of Assisted Living and Memory Care residents.
  • Lead group and one-on-one programs including arts and crafts, fitness, music, games, educational sessions, spiritual programs, entertainment, and community outings.
  • Tailor and adapt programming to meet the needs of residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, using a person-centered and therapeutic approach.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to align activities with residents' care plans and enhance overall quality of life.
  • Foster and maintain a warm, welcoming, and energetic atmosphere that encourages resident participation and social engagement.
  • Serve as a community ambassador by assisting with marketing events, and social media content to highlight the vibrant lifestyle of the community.
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing team to promote events and showcase the community’s culture to prospective residents and families.
  • Supervise and coordinate volunteers and activity assistants as applicable.
  • Maintain records of attendance, resident preferences, and engagement for quality tracking and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor inventory and manage the department budget efficiently.
  • Ensure programs comply with all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Display a consistently professional, upbeat, and positive attitude to support a joyful and supportive environment for residents and staff.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of creativity and dedication by going above and beyond—especially during holidays—to create memorable and festive celebrations for residents and their families.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in recreational programming, senior living, or healthcare environment (memory care experience preferred).
  • Maintains excellent attendance, ensuring consistent engagement and support for resident activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engaging group activities and connect meaningfully with older adults, including those with cognitive impairments.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing teams or participating in sales tours/events is a plus.
  • Energetic, creative, compassionate, and professional demeanor with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Must pass background check and meet health and vaccination requirements per facility and state regulations.
  • Ability to secure a chauffeur’s license and safely operate the facility bus for scheduled activities and outings.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced senior living environment with regular interaction with residents, family members, and team members.
  • May require physical activity including lifting, standing, bending, and assisting residents with mobility during activities.
  • Occasional off-site travel for resident outings or professional development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
