CREDIT ANALYST

POSITION SUMMARY: Works directly with commercial lenders in the loan application process for commercial loans. Conducts credit analysis for new and existing relationships and prepares credit presentations for the bank’s Loan Committee review. Assists in the overall management of the commercial loan portfolio.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Advances and supports the Bank’s Mission and Core Values through words, behavior, and appearance.
2. Embraces change, new technology, and enhancements to current technology.
3. Works closely with the leadership to ensure understanding of loan policy, procedures, credit risk rating system, and compliance with appropriate regulations.
4. Works directly with the commercial loan officers to prepare credit presentations on new and existing relationships that require Loan Committee approval.
5. Performs all financial analysis in the credit presentation including calculations for cash flow, collateral, loan grade and any other relevant analysis.
6. Completes the annual reviews for all loan relationships including a complete analysis of annual financial statements, collateral evaluation, payment history, risk rating review and any adverse industry or economic changes.
7. Responsible for maintaining the loan grading system and calculating accurate loan grades. Makes recommendations for loan grade changes.
8. Works directly with the borrowers when necessary to obtain additional information.
9. Prepares various reports on a monthly and/or quarterly basis to assist in monitoring the loan portfolio.
10. Responsible for ordering appraisals on commercial properties and performing the appraisal review process. Manages the vendor management process and documentation requirements for the bank’s approved appraiser list.
11. Attends Loan Committee meetings as the secretary. Prepares minutes from the meeting.
12. Responsible for maintaining high quality loan files. Monitors loan documentation to ensure complete and accurate loan files. Notifies lenders of exceptions. Maintains files and follow-up with lenders on receipt of request information.
13. Remains highly informed on current Bank policy and related rules and regulations. Interprets and communicates standards and guidelines to lenders in an effective manner.
14. Makes an active contribution to the annual updates made to the Bank’s loan policy based on trends that need to be addressed or areas that need further clarification.
15. Assists the mortgage loan department with monthly reporting and reconciliations. Also participates in the quality control function for the mortgage servicing portfolio.
16. Cross trains other team members for back-up support as needed.
17. Strives to remain in compliance with all applicable banking regulations.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination education and experience
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance for personal injury. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally during normal business hours. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees. Occasional travel between offices and out-of-town/overnight business travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment. Some bending, turning, and twisting required. Serves as a representative of the organization at appropriate functions.
