Job Title: Resident Advocate Evening BFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDepartment: Client Services Program

Reports to: Shelter Manager AEffective Date: Pay Rate: $32,797.44 year

$19.71 hour

Position Overview:

Resident Advocate Evening B is responsible for overseeing and providing direct support to victims of domestic and sexual violence during assigned shifts. Perform related tasks as assigned by the Shelter Manager.

HOURS: 32 hours weekly, Sunday – 4 pm to 12:30 am/Monday – 4 pm to 12 am/ Tuesday - Off/Wednesday – Off/

Thursday 4:30 pm to 12:30 am/Friday – 5 pm to 12:30 am/Saturday Off or as necessary to achieve program objectives, tasks, activities, and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention assistance to current residents and hotline callers
  • Provide orientation to residents regarding all shelter guidelines and procedures and ensure adherence to those guidelines
  • Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of the residents and the shelter facility during assigned shifts
  • Maintain confidentiality pertaining to the shelter facility's records, residents, and locale
  • Ensure all donations are accepted, recorded, and put away in proper storage areas
  • Attending and contributing to shelter and combined staff meetings
  • Oversee the cleanliness of the shelter, including checking chores and reassigning as needed
  • Document pertinent information in client files and communication log
  • Submit maintenance requests for equipment and building repairs
  • Check call notes and retrieve client messages
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Entry-level position, no additional required

Education and Other Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, or comparable experience
  • Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks
  • Must have a clean driving record/provide proof of automobile insurance coverage/be insurable
  • No drivers under the age of 21
  • No DUI, reckless driving, suspended license violations
  • No more than 2 moving violations in a 3-year period for drivers over the age of 25
  • No more than 1 moving violation in a 3-year period for drivers ages 21-25
  • Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance
  • Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance

Job-Specific Competencies:

  • Ability to demonstrate communication and problem-solving skills that encourage and empower residents to seek remedies for positive changes
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize changing workload
  • Ability to make independent decisions to benefit residents, the shelter facility and the agency
  • Sensitivity regarding the issues of family violence and sexual assault and the ability to remain calm in crises
  • Ability to understand residential programs and the dynamics of communal living
