Overview
Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Radiology Technician assists the surgical team in operating the fluoroscopy equipment during the operative procedure(s). The Radiology Technician assists in the organization of fluoroscopy inventory/supplies and the maintenance of clean and safe equipment. Included within this assignment is the responsibility for ensuring effective communication between the Clinical Director, physicians, physician’s assistants, Circulating RN, CST or ST, and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Is a graduate of an accredited Radiology Program.
- Maintains a current Radiology certification.
- Permit BCLS certification required.
- Dependable adherence to work schedule.
- Medical related work experience preferred.
Duties
- Operate and maintain advanced radiologic imaging equipment.
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures with precision while adhering to radiation safety protocols and implementing radiation safety procedures to protect patients and staff.
- Assist in interventional radiology procedures and interventional radiography techniques to support minimally invasive treatments.
- Provide exceptional patient care by preparing patients for imaging procedures, explaining processes clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout the examination.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures performed and ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning optimally.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control standards during all procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and participate in ongoing training related to physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and radiation safety.
Requirements
- Certification or licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent) with demonstrated expertise in radiology practices.
- Extensive experience operating radiologic imaging equipment.
- Proven background working in urgent care settings, emergency rooms, or Level I trauma centers with Level II trauma center experience preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to diagnostic radiology procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to interpret physician orders accurately.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation safety protocols during all imaging processes.
- Experience with patient care in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine or trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate complex medical equipment efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 20 pounds (instrumentation and supplies).
- Physical ability to perform CPR.
- Negative Mantoux or chest X ray annually (will be provided at no cost to the employee).
- Hepatitis immunization (will be provided at no cos t to the employee) or documented refusal to
- be vaccinated.
- Able to assist in the transfer of patients with appropriate number of personnel and/or devices.
