Are you passionate about nurturing young children and supporting families during times of crisis? The Bay Area Crisis Nursery is seeking a dedicated Lead Childcare Worker to join our compassionate team. This is a hands-on role where you will make a direct impact in the lives of children (ages 0–5) by providing a safe, loving, and structured environment while guiding other childcare staff and volunteers.
Please only apply if you have completed 12 ECE units.
What You’ll Do:
As the Lead Childcare Worker, you’ll be the heartbeat of the Nursery during your shift:
- Provide loving, attentive care—including feeding, bathing, and engaging children in play and age-appropriate activities.
- Coordinate shift operations, support childcare workers and volunteers, and ensure all daily routines run smoothly.
- Conduct admissions and discharge meetings, oversee family visits, and help create a safe and supportive environment for caregivers.
- Maintain a clean, safe space for children and staff.
- Complete all reports and records per program and licensing requirements.
- Follow meal/snack calendars and ensure supplies are well stocked.
- Model kindness, respect, and compassion in every interaction—with children, families, volunteers, and the community.
What We’re Looking For:
You are a calm, caring professional with a deep love for children, especially during challenging times.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 12 ECE units completed (3 must include infant care coursework)
- 1 year of direct childcare experience in a licensed childcare center, group home, or similar professional setting
- Knowledge of childhood development and positive guidance techniques
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check and physical (including TB test)
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/carry children, remain active throughout the shift, and respond quickly in emergencies.
