What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ministry Staff/Associate Pastor position at Bay Area Chinese Bible Church?
HOURS: Sunday, Monday-Saturday with one weekday off.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This is a part-time or full-time exempt position. Ministry Staff (not ordained)/Associate Pastor (ordained) is part of the Church Staff and reports to the Lead or Congregation Pastor.
PURPOSE: To support the congregational lead pastors and the growth of the church ministries of BACBC for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission and Great Commandment.
REGULAR DUTIES:
1. Regular preaching and teaching in worship services, Sunday School, and fellowship groups.
2. Lead and coordinate Worship Service planning, and coordinate with volunteer Coordinators for execution.
3. Include participation and leadership in weekly small groups coaching, fellowship groups, and Sunday school leaders.
4. Provide project development and management for church-wide ministries and events of BACBC.
5. Attend and participate in weekly meetings of all church staff, department staff meetings, and other leadership meetings as needed.
6. Participate /Lead a BACBC small group.
7. Lead & oversee one or more church volunteer ministries (i.e. AV, Finance, Web, IT, Small Groups, Sunday School, Membership, Baptismal, Missions, Children's, Youth, Outreach, Worship, etc.) as assigned by the Lead pastors; may include implementation, volunteer recruitment, training, and management.
8. Supervise and lead new volunteer leaders and/or Interns in ministry responsibilities. 9. Lead & oversee one or more employed ministry departments (i.e. AV, Finance, Web, IT, Facilities)
PERIODIC DUTIES:
1. Work with other leaders (paid and volunteer) in carrying out the ministry of the church.
2. Assist with church-wide functions
3. Visit with new families along with the Teacher/Ministry leader and another Pastor.
4. Shepherd and support assigned CCS and TTPS staff members through regular emails, prayer, or in-person meetings.
5. Shepherd and support one assigned CCS class through event or class visits as appropriate.
6. Counsel couples in Pre-Engagement & Pre-marital Counseling sessions.
OCCASIONAL/IRREGULAR DUTIES:
1. Conduct weddings and funerals, providing appropriate preparation and support.
2. Perform other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer a minimum of two years of experience in kingdom work and/or pastoral ministry.
- Required to communicate at a proficient level in English (both in conversation and writing).
- Required if applying for Cantonese or Mandarin ministries, communication at a proficient level of Chinese (read/write, and conversation).
- Required to have a Master of Arts or higher degree from a reputable seminary, a Master of Divinity preferred.
- Team orientation: developing the church ministry within the context of the larger church ministry and in cooperation with and support of other staff members (English, Cantonese, Mandarin, preschool, school, etc.).
- Evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle (I Timothy 3:1-7) are consistent with our Articles of Faith.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- BACBC’s normal process is a one-year evaluation period before consideration for continued employment.
