What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor (1st Shift) position at Baxters North America?
Scope of Job: Supervises the daily activities of a production area to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. Monitors production activity, identifies process problems, troubleshoots causes and develops solutions. Suggests improvements to improve efficiency or safety. Delivers or coordinates staff training and on-boards new staff. Ensures all safety policies and processes are followed. Supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
Experience: 3 years of experience in Operations Department within a Manufacturing environment required. Experience in packaging nondurable goods preferred. Basic understanding and experience with government subsistence contracting government regulations and procedures is a plus. Direct experience with labor relations, business development, safety programs, automation, and distribution preferred.

- Reviews and analyzes reports and records.
- Gives work directions and sets deadlines in order to meet production quotas. Ensures that production starts on time.
- Evaluates production procedures and practices in order to develop new methods for improvement.
- Reviews company policy with workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Makes suggestions in the use of equipment/labor in order to increase efficiency.
- Assists employees in resolving work problems.
- Maintains production records.
- Reports production readings, mechanical problems, and downtime daily. Offers suggestions for improvement.
- Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
