Behavioral Health / 6 South (Geriatric), 3 South (Adult) – Behavioral Health Therapist

Our Adult Behavioral Health is a 16-bed unit for patients age 18 and above, while our Geriatric Behavioral Health is a 19-bed unit for patients age 55 and above. Having both behavioral units, we are able to place patients on the most appropriate unit based on each individual’s need and primary diagnosis of mental illness requiring acute inpatient treatment. Patients are required to attend individual and group psychotherapy, activity therapy, and daily visits with providers. Our behavioral unit teams are actively engaged with each patient, building relationships and providing education to each patient throughout the shift. SUMMARY: Provide coverage for inpatient adult and geriatric psychiatric units. Provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, intervention, management, support, and assess for discharge planning and aftercare needs of the at-risk patient population and their families. In addition, the social worker addresses social determinants of health and works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. Completes initial assessments on patients and updates treatment plan as necessary. Other assigned duties and tasks based on operational needs.
BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager.
Required to work with the Nurse Director regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Behavioral Health Department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master’s Degree in an accredited Social Work program.
Licensure: Current AR Social Work license in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of two year experience is preferred.
Certification: BLS required. Crisis Prevention Institute certificate required within 3 months of employment.
Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment, able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment, and occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more using proper body mechanics. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Has a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases. May have to function around prisoners or mental patients.

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Office staff: 5 days a week, Monday – Friday 8 hour shifts
