Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet nutritional standards while ensuring a positive dining experience for residents. This role plays an important part in supporting the health, comfort, and well-being of those we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and serve menu items according to approved recipes, dietary guidelines, and standard portion sizes.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
Organize and coordinate meal preparation to ensure meals are served on schedule.
Maintain accurate kitchen records and documentation as required.
Complete cleaning and sanitation tasks before, during, and after meal service.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to established procedures.
Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitation checklists.
Monitor and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
Report equipment malfunctions, repair issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
Assist with inventory, food storage, and proper stock rotation as needed.
Support the dietary department and perform other duties as assigned.
Adhere to all Bavarian Meadows policies and procedures, as well as State of Iowa regulations.
Qualifications
Enjoy working with and serving older adults.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
Handle concerns and feedback professionally and respectfully.
Accept coaching and direction in a constructive manner.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn food safety and sanitation practices.
Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment, including:
Convection ovens
Steamers
Commercial ranges and grills
Meat slicers
Mixers and grinders
Commercial dishwashers
Other kitchen tools and equipment
