Job Description

The Role   

We are seeking to appoint an experienced producer for our evening flagship drivetime show, The Hard Shoulder with Kieran Cuddihy. Flexible and remote working options are available for this position.  

What you’ll do:  

• Play a leading role in all aspects of daily production for the show   

• You will book agenda setting, outstanding interviews that lead news headlines both on Newstalk and across Irish media 

• You will have fresh guest ideas, new treatments for stories and air innovative discussions that haven’t been covered before on the show 

• You will expand the programme’s list of regular contributors to include new and diverse voices that haven’t featured before on the show 

• You will have strong talent management skills and work well to focused briefs and production deadlines 

• Generate and develop creative, original and new ideas for the programme   

• Direct, nurture and develop researchers and reporters working with the programme    

• Other duties as required 

Qualifications

• You’re a self-starter, solutions focused, and are driven by ambition to succeed  

• You have a strong background as an experienced producer of live radio 

• You can generate new insights for programme content with confidence and flair  

• You can spot stories that get people talking and can develop them into great on air content 

• You have a broad range of interests and follow news, politics, popular culture, social issues, sports, and everything in between   

• You are proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media   

• You know what our target audience loves, their taste in news stories, and their lifestyle choices – and you’ll be able to use that knowledge to make great radio 

• You know and respond positively to the needs and expectations of others to achieve the right outcome 

• You have excellent knowledge of defamation law and BAI Codes of Conduct
