Battle Creek Public Schools (BCPS) is located in Calhoun County, Michigan (between Chicago and Detroit), serving the City of Battle Creek as well as parts of Emmett, Pennfield and Bedford townships, and the City of Springfield. Position Responsibilities:

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and provides a learning climate for the students.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, conduct and health of the students under his/her supervision.
  • Ensure physical upkeep of the classroom and equipment is maintained.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals
  • - establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Michigan Department of Education Teacher Certification for Secondary Social Studies, 6-12 (RX)
  • Experience in an Urban Education setting is preferred

  • A willingness to collaborate with peers across all facets of the work, providing constructive feedback and raising expectations for all students and staff


Salary: $50,000 - $82,010 (Potential for additional stipends)
Additional signing bonus of up to $1,500 for New Hire teachers, payable upon commencement of employment

Contract: 188 Days (10 Months)
