Role Description The Group Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Battery Wharf Hotel in Boston, MA. This position is responsible for proactively identifying, qualifying, and closing group business, including corporate meetings, social events, and leisure group stays. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a sales pipeline, preparing proposals and contracts, conducting site inspections, and negotiating rates and terms to maximize revenue and profitability. The Group Sales Manager collaborates closely with revenue management, catering, operations, and marketing to ensure seamless event execution and high guest satisfaction. The role also involves maintaining relationships with key accounts, participating in industry events and trade shows, tracking performance metrics, and contributing to sales forecasts and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in hotel or hospitality group sales, with a track record of achieving or exceeding revenue and booking targets.
- Strong skills in account management, relationship building, and client communication to nurture new and existing group business.
- Ability to develop and execute sales strategies, including prospecting, market analysis, and competitive positioning.
- Proficiency with sales and CRM software, as well as basic office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office) for reporting, forecasting, and proposal preparation.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills, with attention to detail in contracts and event documentation.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple inquiries, deadlines, and events simultaneously.
- Understanding of hotel operations, revenue management principles, and group pricing to support profitable decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous experience in a luxury or boutique hotel environment and familiarity with the Boston market are beneficial.
