Battenkill Community Services (BCS) in Hudson Falls, NY is seeking energetic, outgoing people who thrive on making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with Intellectual, Developmental Disabilities and Autism. Currently we have Monday through Friday openings for drivers for both (or either) our morning and afternoon routes. We offer flexible scheduling so this position is great for those looking to supplement their income.
Summary: The Driver position is responsible for the safe transporting of BCS clients between their homes and the BCS Group Day Habilitation (Hab) program areas in Greenwich, NY. Fixed routes are geographically located in Washington, Warren, Rensselaer, and Saratoga counties. BCS Group Day Hab operates Monday through Friday. Morning routes operate between 6-9am and after routes between 1:45-5pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Operate a Non-CDL vehicle to transport adults with disabilities in accordance with rules and regulations of BCS as well as all motor vehicle and traffic laws.
Responsible for safely transporting BCS clients between their homes and BCS in Greenwich, NY.
Follow a schedule pertaining to pick up and drop off locations and times.
Maintains records of mileage and passenger counts.
Maintains daily record of vehicle safety check and reports any mechanical defects and all accidents to their immediate supervisor.
Maintains vehicle cleanliness.
Responsible for communicating and working with Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to ensure health and safety of vehicle travelers.
Records and reports all incidents as detailed in BCS Policies and Procedures.
Take part in any required training and attend staff meetings as requested.
Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of Battenkill Community Services, Inc.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
High School diploma/GED
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of computer applications (which can be accessed on mobile devices) such as timecard entry and email correspondence. Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams) is the platform that BCS uses.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid New York State Driver’s license with a driving record that demonstrates safe operation of Motor Vehicles; First Aid/CPR/AED (BCS will provide training).
