What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Utility Worker position at Baton Rouge Water?
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Utility Worker to join our team. As a Utility Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting various functions within our establishment.
Responsibilities:
- Performs manual labor for water line repairs, manhole maintenance, fire hydrant maintenance, water and installation of water pipe with appurtenances.
- Receives written work orders or verbal instructions
- Assembles tools, equipment, and materials; performs specific work tasks on the water system as instructed.
- Provides on-call duty coverage during non-working hours as per duty roster.
- Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
-Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, and backfilling.
- Perform other duties are directed by supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Required to have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Ability to pass a drug test and physical
