What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Room Technician position at Baton Rouge Water Company?
Baton Rouge Water Company is looking for a full-time Control Room Technician. This position monitors and controls pumping stations via the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. The position monitors for proper operation of the SCADA system and review of the various data reports and logs it produces. The position communicates with field employees via radio and phone regarding operations of the water production and distribution systems, water quality and customer service departments. This role communicates and dispatches locations of mains, valves, etc. to field employees using data provided via the GIS mapping system. The position, using customer service database, responds to customer phone calls and communicates information regard their account status. The role monitors various mechanical, electrical and security systems within the building and carries out specific tasks in the event of any problem. Supervisory Control is a 24-hour department.
High school degree is required. A strong preference for applicant with IT background and computer experience, some college. This role seeks an applicant who: has the ability to learn, engineering thought process and logic, is mechanically inclined, has ability to understand computer operations, can multi-task, can determine appropriate actions for critical operational situations, can determine appropriate actions for customer issues. Finally, this role is seeking someone who: can work shifts (EOWEO) with overtime (may be extensive at times) and callouts. Strong communications skills are needed for this role. Knowledge of the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas geography (e.g., streets, etc.) is a plus. Related experience in above is strongly preferred.
