What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Operations Support Specialist - Specialty Pharmacy position at Baton Rouge General?
This role supports our pharmacy’s mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting URAC, ACHC, and 340B standards. The position plays a key part in ensuring medications are shipped accurately and compliantly, invoices are processed correctly, inventory is maintained, and pharmacy operations run smoothly.
What you will do:1. Medication Shipping & Compliance

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant shipment of medications.

Package medications per pharmacy protocols, temperature control requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.

Generate shipping labels and documentation using pharmacy shipping software.

Confirm patient information, address accuracy, and delivery preferences before dispatch.

Track shipments, maintain complete shipping records, and report delays, damages, or discrepancies.

Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure orders are complete and audit-ready.
2. Invoice Review & Processing

Review, verify, and submit pharmacy invoices to Accounts Payable.

Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
-
Enter invoice data into pharmacy/financial systems and follow up on outstanding payments.

Resolve billing discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.
3. Inventory & Vendor Coordination

Place medication and supply orders based on inventory needs.

Monitor stock levels and conduct routine inventory checks.

Work with vendors on backorders, substitutions, or special requests.

Assist with cost tracking and inventory reporting.
4. 340B Program Compliance

Conduct internal audits of 340B claims to ensure compliance with HRSA guidelines.

Reconcile split-billing reports with dispensing and purchasing records.

Monitor transactions to prevent diversion or duplicate discounts.

Support additional compliance and clerical tasks related to 340B.
5. Clerical & Administrative Support

Assist pharmacy leadership with scheduling, meeting planning, and clerical tasks.

Reserve rooms, coordinate equipment needs and arrange food/beverages or travel.

Participate in Work Excellence projects as assigned.
6. Additional Duties

Perform other related tasks to support pharmacy operations as assigned.
