What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endo Tech- Endoscopy, Bluebonnet (FT days) position at Baton Rouge General?
JOB PURPOSE & MISSION
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Accountable for delegated patient care in assigned area.
- Maintains and practices universal precautions and aseptic technique.
- Provides assistance with endoscopy procedures according to protocol.
- Responsible for proper set-up of the Endoscopy rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Cleans equipment as required and follows departmental procedures for proper cleaning.
- Administers medication that has been approved by the Endoscopy Service that is given during the endoscopy procedure under the direct supervision of the physician performing the procedure.
- Provides transport, positioning and turning of patients, utilizing good body mechanics and following department procedures.
- Transfers patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair, following proper Infection Control and body mechanic procedures.
- Properly drapes/covers patients.
- Transports patient to destination, following all BRGMC rules and regulations.
- Notifies Endoscopy staff of patient arrival.
- Cleans stretchers, wheelchairs, etc. according to established Infection Control guidelines.
- Reports repaid needs to supervisor upon discovery.
- Returns all equipment to the proper location at the end of a shift.
- Assists in cleaning assigned Endoscopy areas between cases on a timely basis.
- Routes all instruments and equipment to the appropriate area for cleaning/processing.
- Assists in the inventory and orderly storage of supplies.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to RN in charge immediately upon discovery.
- Ensures patient safety by maintaining Endoscopy tables and stretchers in low positions, beds locked, side rails up, and properly securing patients on stretchers when transporting.

HIPAA - Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality data, patient financial information, patient billing 3rd party, patient related complaints, information related to patient location, religious beliefs and/or public health records.
SAFETY - Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, administers/collects medications/blood order, transports/monitors or observes patients with infusion pumps, and monitors clinical alarms.
