Title: Batavia Depot Museum Internship
Location: Batavia Depot Museum, Batavia IL
Job Summary: The Batavia Park District Museum Internship has been established to preserve the community history of Batavia, Illinois and to offer emerging museum professionals valuable skills practice in a wide variety of museum operations, including curation and collections management, museum education, programming, administration, volunteer management, marketing and maintenance based on the interests of the intern and needs of the Park District.
Qualifications:
- Currently working towards and presently enrolled in an accredited college degree program in history, public history, museum studies, or related field
- Knowledge of the theories, practices, and philosophies of public history strongly desired.
- Museum Intern must possess strong oral, written, and visual communication skills and the ability to maintain working relationships with peers, community groups, volunteers,
- independent contractors, co-workers, staff, supervisors and the public by demonstrating our CORE VALUES.
- The intern must also possess a current and valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
Work Schedule:
A regular weekly schedule up to 100 hours during the internship period will be agreed on at the beginning of work, considering the intern’s availability, weekly activities and special events.
The intern may be required to work some days, evenings, weekends and holidays based on coverage needs for programs and special events.
