Plumber/HVAC-R Technician

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Building & Grounds, available upon request for branch maintenance, the Plumber/HVAC-R Technician performs a variety of plumbing skilled duties and is responsible to assist in the maintenance of the Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) at Batavia Downs Racing and Gaming facility and WROTBC owned and leased facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform skilled work and general plumbing maintenance, including capital projects in all related buildings to WROTBC.

2. Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC and Refrigeration systems and associated equipment, on the premises at Batavia Downs and at various OTB locations.

3. Assist in the corrective maintenance in full compliance with applicable programs, best industry practices and manufacturers’ recommended practices.

4. Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance and repairs on each piece of HVAC&R equipment by location in addition to stock items such as belts, filters, etc.

5. Assist in the operation of all assigned equipment and systems in the most energy efficient manner.

6. Assist in the preparation and submission of summary reports to Director of Buildings & Grounds listing conditions found in the performance of assigned work and recommend action to be taken.

7. Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of building, general maintenance, repair practices and in specialized skill (Plumbing/HVAC-R). Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the practices and techniques of one or more trades. Must possess a background in the maintenance, repair and upkeep of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED, plus five (5) years training and experience in HVAC and Refrigeration system operation and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of the foregoing experience and training sufficient to indicate the ability to effectively perform the required duties of the position.

Must possess the required licenses and/or certifications to perform plumbing and HVAC duties, including a valid driver’s license an active Plumbing License with the City of Batavia.

Must be approved for and maintain a valid Video Lottery Gaming Service Employee license and a racing license issued by the New York State Gaming Commission.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a stationary role approximately 50% of the time. This position requires the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds at a time and bend or stand as necessary. The person in this position must be able to access and inspect areas of buildings and grounds, including climbing ladders and operating machinery. The person in this position must also be able to talk and hear in order to ensure proper communication both in person and over a radio. This position does have moderate exposure to weather conditions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be available to work nights, weekends, and on holidays as necessary to support any building-related activity.

Pay: $72,100.00 - $87,550.00 per year
