GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Buildings & Grounds, Maintenance performs general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including painting, plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry and masonry, and other building systems.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Good knowledge of buildings, general maintenance, and repair practices. Must have mechanical aptitude, knowledge of the practices and techniques of one or more trades/industries and be in good physical condition.
Acceptable Training And Experience
A high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of full time experience in building maintenance and/or general maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of the foregoing experience and training sufficient to indicate the ability to effectively perform the required duties of the position.
Must be approved for and maintain a valid Video Lottery Gaming Service Employee license and racing license issued by the New York State Gaming Commission.
Physical Requirements
This is a stationary role approximately 50% of the time. This position requires the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds at a time and bend or stand as necessary. The person in this position must be able to access and inspect areas of buildings and grounds, including climbing ladders and operating machinery. The person in this position must also be able to talk and hear in order to ensure proper communication both in person and over a radio. This position does have moderate exposure to weather conditions.
Additional Requirements
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and on holidays.

- Assist Skilled Maintenance, the Assistant Director of Building & Grounds, the Plumber/HVAC-R Technician, and the Director of Building & Grounds in performing work in masonry, carpentry, electrical, and painting operations.
- Assist Skilled Maintenance, the Assistant Director of Building & Grounds, the Plumber/HVAC-R Technician, and the Director of Building & Grounds in the repair of windows, doors, floors, walls, and other parts of buildings, as well as equipment relating to the job.
- Serve as a general handyman, performing a variety of duties.
- Responsible for snow removal.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of grounds, including the removal of cigarette butts, mowing, weed whacking, and watering plants.
- Responsible for mucking horse stalls.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
