What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Financial Aid Advisor position at Bastyr University?
Position Summary:
This role serves as a primary point of contact for students while overseeing student employment programs. The position combines financial aid advising responsibilities with coordination of federal, state, and institutional work study programs. The role requires strong customer service, regulatory knowledge, and operational oversight to ensure compliance and student success.This ia a hybrid position, on-site 3 days per week;
Essential Responsibilities:
Student Advising & Financial Aid
- Counsel students and families on financial aid processes, policies, and eligibility.
- Review applications, perform verification, and determine eligibility for aid.
- Award federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
- Resolve disbursement issues and coordinate with Student Accounts.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance and audits.
Work Study & Student Employment
- Administer federal, state, and institutional work study programs.
- Coordinate job postings, hiring, payroll, and timesheets.
- Monitor student eligibility and fund usage.
- Develop new on-campus and off-campus employment opportunities.
- Complete reconciliation, reporting, and FISAP work study components.
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Utilize systems such as COD, NSLDS, EDConnect, and institutional databases.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and financial aid processing.
- Provide presentations and support enrollment initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in financial aid, student employment, or related field.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with financial aid systems and data reporting preferred
