BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: As front desk staff, the Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibilities include the overall quality and consistency of customer service, application review, and administrative support services. This position is responsible for answering phones and providing customer service; reviewing applications for adoption; assisting with the intake of animals and correctly impounding and dispositioning them as necessary in both written and electronic files; taking payments and following proper procedures and protocols and other duties as assigned. Secondary duties include assisting other Animal Services staff as needed.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: This position requires knowledge of personal computer skills and software, including the Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook—as well as Adobe Acrobat and Reader. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to learn other software packages and possess accurate, efficient keyboarding skills. The position also requires strong personal communication skills, including effective telephone skills and public speaking. The ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner and to conduct business with the public in a professional, courteous manner is essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Texas Driver’s license (or a valid out of state Driver’s license with the ability to obtain a TXDL within 90 days).
