About the Role
We are seeking a professional and dependable Security Guard to join our team and help maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, and staff at a residential apartment complex in San Mateo. The ideal candidate is observant, responsive, and capable of de-escalating conflicts while maintaining a calm, courteous demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot patrols of property grounds, buildings, and parking areas
- Monitor security cameras and access control systems
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or suspicious activity
- Document daily activity reports (DARs), incidents, and maintenance concerns
- Enforce community rules, including noise control and parking policies
- Provide professional customer service to residents, visitors, and staff
- Coordinate with local law enforcement or emergency services as needed
Requirements
- Valid California BSIS Guard Card (Required)
- Powers To Arrest certificate (8-hour course REQUIRED)
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Reliable transportation to and from the site
- Prior experience in residential, retail, or property security preferred
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 30 per week
