Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled EMS Operations Manager/Advanced Life Support Provider to lead the daily operational readiness, staffing, response capability, and field performance of our EMS team. This position combines EMS operational leadership with active emergency response responsibilities.

Your expertise in advanced life support procedures, trauma and critical care, and emergency vehicle operation will drive excellence in patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Manage daily EMS operations, staffing, ambulance readiness, field response capability, and station workflow.
- Supervise and support EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics, drivers, shift leads, volunteers, and assigned staff.
- Prepare and manage schedules, monitor coverage gaps, coordinate staffing resources, and respond to operational needs.
- Respond to EMS calls as an ALS provider and provide patient care within Virginia certification, agency authorization, protocols, and OMD direction.
- Ensure vehicles, equipment, medications, supplies, PPE, radios, and documentation systems are properly stocked, maintained, and response-ready.
- Support onboarding, orientation, field training, credential tracking, continuing education, and employee performance monitoring.
- Review patient care reports, operational documentation, incidents, complaints, and QA/QI issues for completeness, quality, and compliance.
- Develop and improve operational procedures, checklists, workflows, and readiness processes.
- Coordinate with 911 dispatch, fire departments, hospitals, law enforcement, local government, and other regional partners.
- Promote professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and positive collaboration between paid staff and volunteer members.
- Prepare reports and operational updates for leadership or the Board as requested.
- Participate in community outreach, recruitment, standby events, public education, meetings, trainings, and agency activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of EMS experience, preferably in a 911 emergency response environment.
- Current Virginia Advanced Life Support certification required; Paramedic preferred.
- Previous supervisory, leadership, field training, scheduling, or EMS operations experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with personnel management, staffing coordination, quality assurance, and operational readiness preferred.
- Experience in a combination volunteer and career EMS system is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Virginia EMS regulations, patient care documentation, infection control practices, and emergency vehicle operations.
- Experience coordinating with public safety agencies, hospitals, dispatch centers, and community partners preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic patient care reporting systems, scheduling software, and standard business technology applications.
