GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The individual in this position is responsible for clerical and paraprofessional work assisting students and teachers in school libraries and media center; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a librarian or specialist.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Teaches classes in conjunction with and under the direction of the librarian.
- Assists librarian with coding classes.
- Supervises students in the Maker Space area.
- Assists students and teachers with research.
- Assists with the distribution and collection of student iPads.
- Inventories and maintains laptop carts.
- Assists teachers as needed with technology issues.
- Keeps audiovisual equipment updated and sets up equipment as needed.
- Teaches keyboarding classes.
- Processes teacher resources and materials.
- Performs clerical and paraprofessional work.
- Types labels for books and correspondence to staff and parents as needed.
- Assists the librarian with book inventory.
- Works at the circulation desk.
- Reshelves returned books, magazines, and other library material.
- Remediates students in core subject areas.
- Assists in classrooms as needed or requested by administration.
- Performs supervisory duties as scheduled by administration.
- Compiles overdue book list and equipment circulation records and requests.
- Assists students and teachers in providing library and media center services.
- Assists with book and material processing and maintenance.
- Distributes and ensures proper care and maintenance of audio-visual equipment.
- Assists with inventory maintenance, parts, and supplies.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university or passing score on the Parapro examination.
- Or an equivalent level of education and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other District employees and the general public.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
