What you'll do
The main purpose of the Manager EVS is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operations of the Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments in accordance with current Federal, State and Local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facilities, and what may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that our facilities are maintained in a safe and comfortable manner. This position combines all duties and requirements of the Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments. Must be able to perform job duties of Maintenance Supervisor, as well as all duties of Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor
- Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures. Policy and Procedure Manual will be reviewed and updated as needed
- Responsible for the overall maintenance and security of the facility. Performs maintenance tasks to assure the safety of residents, employees, and visitors on the premises. Tasks include but are not limited to, disposal of wastes, removal of snow, ice, and sand from parking lots, sidewalks and entrance ways, changing of light bulbs and repairing leaky faucets. Must be able to perform maintenance tasks as needed such as semi-skilled work, painting, carpentry and floor maintenance. Perform all other tasks as assigned by Administrator
- Develop and maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for each level of Maintenance, housekeeping and laundry personnel
- Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, studies to assure control of equipment and supplies
- Assure that outside services are properly completed and supervised in accordance with contracts or work orders
- Prepare costs estimate for projects prepares budgets
- Make written/oral reports or recommendation to the Administrator concerning the operations of the Maintenance, Housekeeping or Laundry Departments
- Review and develop a plan of correction for maintenance, housekeeping or laundry deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy to the Administrator
- Delegate a responsible staff member to act on your behalf when absent from the facility
- Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees (Safety, Infection Control, QA)
- Attend Department Head meetings as scheduled and solicit advice from inter-departmental supervisors concerning the operation of maintenance department and assist in identifying and correcting problems
- Assist in recruitment, interviewing and selection of staff
- Assist in reprimands and terminations with proper documentation and coordinate such actions with the Human Resources Director and/or Administrator
- Schedule department work hours (vacation, holiday, personal, and call weekends) and work assignments
- Develop, maintain and implement Hazardous Communications policies and procedures to assure that sanitary environment is maintained at all times
- Maintain all records of purchased equipment and proper maintenance records for any serviced equipment
- Make periodic checks on facility and equipment to assure that all necessary equipment is running properly
- Check supply rooms and work areas to assure the needed supplies are on hand to perform assigned tasks
- Forecast needs of the department such as; prepare budgets for labor, supplies and equipment. Submit to Administrator for review, recommendations and approval
- Make inspections of facility equipment on a regular basis as set forth in policy manual and correct problems as they occur
- Assure completion of work requisites submitted by departments
- Review maintenance complaints and grievances from residents/families an make written and or oral reports
- Be prepared to handle emergencies as they occur (rescheduling maintenance personnel, natural disasters)
- Attend all required in-services and follow all department and facility policies and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment
- Required to perform other duties as directed by the Administrator including assisting with residents as needed
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations
- Coordinate ADHC bus schedule. Including patient/resident transport to and from appointments or hospital
- Maintenance of Valley Residential Services (ALR) facility
- Maintain grounds and snow removal
- Coordinate and manage preventative maintenance program and work order system
What we need from you
Education:
- High School or GED, required
- College credits recommended, as well as formal training in the recognized trades, preferred
Experience:
- Prior experience within a recognized skilled trade, required
- 3 more years' experience, preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital, nursing home or other related facility, required
- Minimum 3 years experience in direct supervision of employees, required
- Must have thorough knowledge of the practices, processes, materials and tools of all the trades, good knowledge of modern buildings and grounds maintenance, as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, required
- Must be able to read blueprints and be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations, required
Licensure/Certifications:
- Must be 25 years old, possess a valid NYS Class D driver's license, and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles, required

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $73,483.56/Yr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $110,225.34/Yr.
