Apparel Product Development Assistant

Position Summary

The ASSISTANT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT is responsible for assisting the apparel development team in executing seasonal strategies and styles. The position will interface with all apparel product development team members including designers and overseas vendors. This position will work alongside Product Developers to request and review seasonal submits, create and maintain seasonal style folders, participate in sample reviews and follow up on outstanding needs to ensure the seasonal development remains on calendar.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform initial product review of garment samples – comparing samples to the tech pack to ensure compliance and noting issues to the team for follow up discussion. Partner with product development team in addressing any challenges regarding specifications, construction, materials, or fit. Present fit sample(s) to merchant team for feedback – communicate any revisions to factory.
• Create and Maintain seasonal development styles.
• Document approvals and reviews in PLM system
• Review lab dips and other coordinated trims for seasonal development and provide comments as directed.
• Assist in maintaining seasonal sample lines and storage locations with needed items; in an organized and accessible condition.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum – pursing a Bachelor’s Degree in textiles and apparel design or related product development field
• Ability to take direction and follow projects to completion
• Understanding of color and able to communicate color comments accordingly.
• Strong team player, creative thinker with basic process knowledge regarding apparel development.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Windows software
• A trained eye for color and detail
• Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

• Accountable to follow through on a task from beginning to end
• Ability to self-manage/work independently
