Job Description
The Payroll Manager oversees payroll operations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while managing payroll staff and maintaining accurate payroll records.
This role reports directly to the Assistant Controller. This position is highly visible and is part of the accounting management team.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Payroll Procedures: Manage the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax obligations and reporting requirements. Take lead on Firm’s location analysis.
- Supervise Payroll Team: Lead and mentor the payroll staff, providing training and support to ensure efficient payroll processing and adherence to best practices.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee data, payroll changes, and deductions, while ensuring confidentiality and data security.
- Partner Distribution Process: Partner with the Financial Analysis Manager to assist with the Partner Distribution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR/Benefits and accounting department to coordinate payroll -related activities and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.
- System Management and Reporting: Develop and implement payroll processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations and prepare and present payroll reports to management.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Must have 2-4 years’ payroll management experience, with a strong understanding of payroll regulations and procedures.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in payroll software (ADP) and related software (Workforce Now).
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing payroll data and compliance requirements.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address payroll-related issues and improve processes.
- Communication: Ability to communicate with multiple audiences at various levels with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
Education and Technology Proficiency Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Preferred fields of study include accounting, finance, economics and business.
- Must have knowledge and experience with the Firms payroll provider (ADP).
- Ability to work with data and demonstrate proficiency (advanced formula, pivot table experience) with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel.
