Accounting Associate

POSITION SUMMARY
Basin Ventures is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting
Associate to join our Southlake, TX office. Reporting directly to our Director of Accounting,
Director of Accounting, this full-time, in-office position provides essential
accounting and administrative support to the finance team. The ideal candidate is
accurate, organized, and eager to grow their accounting career in a fast-paced
private investment environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices and check requests accurately and on schedule
- Assist with weekly check runs and ACH payments
- Maintain vendor files and ensure current W-9 documentation
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status and discrepancies
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
- Enter and post transactions including bills, payments, and journal entries
- Run standard reports: A/P aging, vendor balance summaries, transaction detail
- Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with chart of accounts maintenance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes as directed
Filing & Document Management
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing of financial documents
- Scanning, indexing, and archiving invoices, receipts, and contracts
- Ensure proper record retention and retrieval per company policy
- Assist with audits by locating and organizing requested documentation
Administrative Support
- Provide direct administrative support to the Director of Accounting
- Assist with data entry, report preparation, and correspondence
- Prepare and distribute routine financial reports and spreadsheets
- General office duties: scheduling, photocopying, mail handling
- Assist with special projects as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or comparable software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Outlook)
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of basic A/P processes and accounting principles
- Experience with digital and physical filing systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Dependable and able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- 2 years of accounting or administrative support experience
- Familiarity with 1099 preparation and year-end vendor reporting
- Experience with investment entities, partnerships, or fund-related accounting
(K-1s, capital accounts)
- QuickBooks certification or coursework
- Some knowledge of Oil and Gas accounting
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
- $50,000 annually (firm)
- Full-time | Monday-Friday | In-office, Southlake TX
- Standard hours 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional overtime at month/quarter/year-end
