What are the responsibilities and job description for the HSE Technician position at Basin Safety Consulting?
We are currently seeking a person for the position of Air Trailer Safety Technician. This job consists of all of the duties associated with being an in-field safety technician for on-site emergency response. This job also includes the following:
- Non-rotational in person in Stark County, ND
- Being an on-site H2S trailer technician
- Sampling at well-head while crews are working on-site
- Observing crews working
- Providing on-site rescue if needed
- Maintaining rescue equipment (SCBAs, cascade systems, gas sampling equipment, etc.)
- Running crews through pre-job JSA meetings
- Serving as on-site confined space rescue supervisor/attendant/entrant
- Monitoring confined space
- Performing confined space documentation and permits
- Providing on-site confined space rescue
- Pulling truck & trailer filled with equipment to and from locations.
- Maintaining and inspecting confined space rescue equipment (tripod assembly, lifelines/taglines, harnesses, SRLs, etc.)
Experience is preferred, however we will be willing to train motivated candidate with an excellent work record. Required skills include good math skills, an excellent understanding of basic mechanical devices as well as the ability to use common shop hand and power tools. This person should have experience in a position of responsibility as well as having a high regard for excellent work quality.
Working Hours:
- 40 hours a week with overtime on the weekends, and on-call
Qualifications / Skills:
- At least 1 year of oilfield experience, 2 years preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- Can lift 50lbs and potentially drag up to 150lbs
Other Required Skills, knowledge or Abilities:
- Ability to operate, maintain, and calibrate electronic gas monitoring equipment in the field according to manufacturers' specifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose assigned equipment problems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
- Knowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities; i.e., State, OSHA, NIOSH, and NFPA regulations, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to use IPad and GPS, and have basic computer knowledge.
- Proficiency in the care and use of all site or facility specific client required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
- Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.
- Use of hand tools and some mechanical knowledge
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Must possess a good driving record and be insurable for Basin Safety Consulting's vehicle insurance while driving company vehicles.
