Job Summary
Basin Express is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused Box Truck Driver to operate a scheduled delivery and pickup route based out of Yakima, WA, with daily operations running through Moses Lake, WA. The typical shift begins at approximately 7:30 PM and ends around 4:00 AM.
This position involves operating a 20- or 26-foot box truck under 26,001 pounds and completing approximately 10 scheduled stops per shift, along with additional pickups or deliveries as assigned. The driver will be responsible for safely transporting freight, accurately handling delivery paperwork, communicating professionally with customers, and completing all assigned stops in a timely manner.
The driver will begin each shift by picking up the truck in Yakima, WA, then travel to Moses Lake, WA to complete deliveries and perform freight handling duties, including unloading and reloading freight as needed. Once all route responsibilities are completed, the driver will return the vehicle to Yakima, WA at the end of the shift.
Drivers will regularly load, unload, sort, and organize freight. The majority of the freight consists of automotive parts that are generally lighter in weight but may come in irregular shapes and sizes. This work requires frequent lifting, bending, reaching, carrying, and careful handling throughout the shift.
Candidates must be comfortable working overnight hours, driving for extended periods, performing physical freight-handling duties, and maintaining focus and professionalism throughout the route.
Responsibilities
- This position is based out of Yakima, WA, with daily route operations in Moses Lake, WA, and typically operates Monday through Friday.
- The driver will pick up the truck in Yakima, WA at the start of each shift and return it to Yakima, WA upon completion of the route.
- The typical shift begins at approximately 7:30 PM and ends around 4:00 AM.
- Start and end times may vary depending on route requirements, freight volume, customer needs, and other business or operational demands.
- Safely operate a 20- or 26-foot box truck under 26,001 pounds to complete scheduled deliveries and pickups.
- Complete approximately 10 scheduled stops per shift, along with additional stops as assigned.
- Make safe, accurate, and timely deliveries in varying traffic and weather conditions.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers at delivery and pickup locations.
- Load, unload, sort, organize, and secure freight for transportation.
- Unload and reload freight in Moses Lake, WA as part of daily route operations.
- Verify freight using Bills of Lading, manifests, piece counts, and other shipping documentation.
- Ensure the correct freight is delivered to and collected from each location.
- Complete and maintain accurate driver logs, fuel records, delivery paperwork, proof of delivery, and other required documentation.
- Use the Company's delivery application to manage orders and complete proof-of-delivery requirements.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Promptly report vehicle damage, maintenance concerns, freight discrepancies, delays, accidents, or customer issues.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other freight-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized Company vehicle.
- Follow all Company policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Requirements
- Previous box truck driving or professional delivery experience is required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid DOT medical card.
- Ability to safely operate a 20- or 26-foot box truck under 26,001 pounds.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to perform frequent lifting, bending, reaching, loading, and unloading throughout the shift.
- Comfortable driving for extended periods during overnight hours.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately verify freight and delivery paperwork.
- Data-enabled smartphone required for communication, order management, and proof-of-delivery completion.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional and courteous communication with customers and coworkers.
- Strong commitment to safe driving and proper freight handling.
