Position Overview

Role: Custom Fabrication Project Estimation  

We are looking for a highly analytical estimator looking to work on award winning prestigious projects with national recognition. Where people, design, and pride in work product are paramount. If you are highly intelligent, a master of excel, naturally analytical, and understand the importance of project management that empowers a team environment, then this is likely your dream job.

As a key contributor to our custom fabrication team, you’ll be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, improving processes, and collaborating closely with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to deliver on client expectations while maintaining profitability.

Role:

·        Prepare both high-level budgets (ROMs) and detailed cost breakdowns (BID) to support client proposals and internal planning.

·        Partner with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to define project scope, timelines, and client expectations.

·        Support the Sales Team in developing competitive bids that include value engineering, add options, and cost alternatives.

·        Document, organize and annotate construction documents, take offs, quotes.

Responsibilities:

·        Analyze construction documents, project specifications, 3D models, and customer requirements to estimate materials, labor, and overhead for all components and the overall build.

·        Proactively identify potential risk factors, design inconsistencies, or scope gaps before submission.

·        Draft clear Project Narratives with explicit Inclusions and Exclusions.

·        Evaluate assembly operations and fabrication methods to identify efficient, cost-effective processes.

·        Communicate out-of-budget items early and collaborate with internal teams to implement process fixes that bring projects back within scope

·        Review and understand the Company’s Fabrication Agreement, contract templates, and internal

documentation.

·        Align with California Labor Code, Business & Professions Code, and Wage Order No. 4-2001 requirements.

Skills

·        5 Years of experience in custom fabrication and general construction.

·        Master of Excel and Bluebeam.

·        Experience with Revit, Sketchup, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.

·        Ability to read and understand blueprints/shop drawings 

·        Experience with budgeting, material take-offs, and negotiations.

·        Strong understanding of fabrication equipment, processes and materials.

Traits

·        Strong organization and process skills. Ability to handle multiple projects at once.

·        Data analysis and critical thinking.

·        Strong cross trade awareness for all phases of construction and manufacturing.

·        This role requires speed and accuracy to be successful.

·        A strong communication skill between clients, GCs, designers, architects, and fabricators.

Additional Details  

·        This is a full-time position. 

·        This position will be based out of our office located in Downtown San Diego. 

·        Salary Range $75k - 90k.
