Bakery & Espresso Bar Clerk - Basics Market (Farmington Location)

Responsible for building connections with the public and interested in the local food economy, nutrition and building their barista and retail work experience. The position will focus on assisting customers by responding to questions and requests, making product recommendations, and providing samples. Utilize previous barista and retail experience along with a commitment to providing customers with an exceptional service experience.

Primary Responsibilities

· Make and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages

· Takes and fills special orders for customers.

· Finishes products by filling or icing donuts or pastries.

· Packages, labels and prices products for self-service.

· Maintains and fills bakery trays, display cases and ingredient bins.

· Scoops ice cream and toppings, builds sundaes and blends milkshakes to fill customer orders.

· Restocks ice cream, bowls, cones, toppings, napkins and spoons.

· Provides ice cream samples as requested by the customer.

· Speak and interact with both new and regular customers.

· Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation.

· Follow health and safety guidelines.

· Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items.

· Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance.

· Contribute to a positive team environment.

• Assists with other departments and at other Basics locations as needed.

Customer Service Responsibilities

· Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information and seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.

· Adapts service based on customer needs, handles difficult customer situations and seeks solutions to delight the customer.

Facilities, Sanitation, Work Safety and Food Safety Responsibilities

· Adheres to work and food safety policies set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.

· Performs janitorial tasks in compliance with sanitation standards established by store policy and state and local health departments. Contributes to store cleanliness.

· Maintains equipment, informs store/department management of any problems.

· Reports all safety concerns and work-related injuries to management.

· Frequent handwashing is required.

General Responsibilities

· Actively contributes to a positive and supportive work environment.

· Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and Qualification Requirements

· GED or equivalent High School Diploma.

· 1 year previous retail or Barista experience.

· Valid Food Handlers Certification or must acquire within 30 days of hire.
