Produce Clerk - Part-Time (Hillsdale Location)

This position is anticipated to work about 20 hours/week

Basics and associated entities are privately held, family-owned companies.

Basics provides personnel and management services to several affiliated entities including Organic Milk Exchange and Silver Sage Farms.

Primary Summary

The position will focus on assisting our customers by providing information about produce and other products, answering customer questions, and supporting our various departments within the location. Utilize previous retail experience along with a commitment to providing customers with an exceptional service experience.

Primary Responsibilities

· Provides exceptional customer service through sampling, informing, listening and engaging with our customers.

· Assists in maintaining retail floor, exterior property and back room conditions, ensuring a positive and safe customer experience.

· Works in and supports all departments within the store including Cashiering, Grocery, etc.

· Maintains a clean and organized sales floor.

· Builds and takes down displays, product rotation and receiving.

· Follows all food and work safety guidelines.

Additional Position-Specific Responsibilities

· Completes customer special orders thoroughly and provides follow-through as needed.

· Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.

· Maintains the organization, rotation and cleanliness of customer facing and back stock areas.

Customer Service Responsibilities

· Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information and assists in locating product throughout the store. Seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.

· Adapts service based on customer needs, handles difficult customer situations and seeks solutions to delight the customer.

Education and Qualification Requirements

· GED or equivalent High School Diploma, college degree preferred.

· 1-year retail experience.

· Valid Food Handlers Certification or must acquire within 30 days of hire.
