Junior Optical Test Engineer (Long Term Contract)Sunnyvale, CADuties:· Characterization of optical components and modules of AR/VR Displays· Performing the following tests across different components and moduleso Roughness or profile measurementso Thickness, flatness, and parallelismo Color profile or spectral responseo Image quality metrics such as MTF, PSF, etc.o Polarization· Alignment of optical components for testing and characterization· Setting up and managing demos to engineers and other focus groups around the quality and performance of a system· Creating test experiments and jigs to perform analysis on optical components· Collecting and performing statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metricsSkills & Experience:· Hands-on experience with various optical metrology tools such as MTF testers, interferometers, profilometers, spectrometers, ellipsometers, microscopes etc.· Experience in working in an optical lab and knowledge of best laboratory practices· Knowledge of geometrical and physical optics· Knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization· Knowledge of color measurement principles· Experience in test automation (instrument control and data collection) using LabView, MATLAB or Python. · Ability to script and prototype image analysis algorithms in MATLAB or Python· 1-3 years of relevant experience in industry or academics· Degree in optics, optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering or related field is preferred
