CLASSIFICATION: SUPPORT STAFF
JOB TITLE: MEDIA ASSISTANT
CALENDAR: 2081H – FT (206 DAYS)
SALARY: GRADE 107 (SUPPORT HOURLY)
Job Goal:
Provide operational, clerical, and instructional support for the school library, ensuring efficient circulation, accurate resource management, and equitable access to library services that enhance student learning and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer and related software
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Vision and hearing adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner
Core Job Functions:
- Perform a wide variety of clerical tasks including patron picture uploads, creating spine labels, barcode labels and replacements when needed
- Check books in and out of library
- Beginning of year textbook checkout
- Running patron,library, and resource reports
- Manage Destiny under the supervision of the Media/Tech Teacher
- Shelve books and make minor repairs
- Operate library and technology equipment
- Manage loss/overdue fines and fees
- Catalog new materials and perform library weeding
- Carry out library collection inventory
- Assist with yearly textbook inventory
- Assist students with book selection and technology assistance
- Operate and care for school districts’ equipment properly
- Follow district policies as outlined
- Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed by supervisors
- Communicate regularly with school leadership
- Maintain flexible access to library services and learning spaces to maximize student engagement and instructional support
- Be flexible and perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
- Model appropriate use of digital and printed resources
- Work collaboratively and individually to design, develop, and implement programs that encourage reading for enjoyment and for information
- Oversee library operations, collection development, acquisitions, circulation, inventory systems, and resource management software
- Encourage flexible access to the programs and services of the library media program.
- Curate and manage digital resources, databases, and instructional tools aligned to instructional goals
- Perform other duties assigned to support the overall objective of the position
