We are looking for a Category Buyer to join our Global Procurement (GP) team in Wyandotte, MI.

Where the chemistry happens...

Global Indirect Procurement (GPI) is responsible for purchasing technical goods and services for BASF Group. We understand the business needs, are close to our stake­holders, drive cost savings, innovation and sustainable practices by negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships.

We are looking for a Category Buyer to join our team. This role plays a key part in managing procurement activities, optimizing supplier relationships, and driving cost efficiencies across assigned categories. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic sourcing initiatives and ensure alignment with business goals.

As a Category Buyer, you create chemistry by...

• Managing procurement activities for assigned categories.
• Developing and executing sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings.
• Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
• Conducting market analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers.
• Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring compliance.
• Identifying and implementing process improvements in procurement.

If you...

• Bring 5 years of experience in procurement, category management or supply chain.
• Demonstrate strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Have proficiency in data analysis and sourcing tools.
• Work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Show initiative and strategic thinking in decision-making.
